How a “gift tag that conveys gratitude” is created

2024/03/07

An event to convey gratitude through the mimosa-colored streets.Hello Yellow”, we will give out a gift tag that can be attached to a shop bag to those who purchase a product as a gift.
The design is from the Harunire Terrace store.NATUR TERRACEIn collaboration with the owner of ``. Here we will introduce the process of making gift tags.

■Karuizawa feels like spring when the yellow flowers bloom
In Karuizawa, spring arrives with the blooming of yellow flowers such as lily pads, daffodils, and daffodils. Mimosa, which has become increasingly popular in recent years, is a yellow flower that blooms in spring, and its flower language means "gratitude." Spring is also a season of turning points, such as entering school and graduating, starting a new life. Therefore, in Karuizawa, where you can feel the signs of spring, we started this event "HelloYellow" with the idea of providing time to express and express "feelings of gratitude."

■Gift tag that conveys gratitude
"HellowYellow" is where you can write your gratitude on event-limited postcards and enjoy limited-edition drinks and sweets amidst the mimosa-colored streets. This year, the second year of the event, we have planned content in which those who purchase gift items will receive an original gift tag that can be attached to a shop bag.

■A place where you can find something you've been looking for for a while
This time, we consulted about the collaboration with Harunire Terrace store “NATUR TERRACE” owner, Mr. Sunagadan. The store is run by a Swedish-based couple who were active as designers, and the store collects products based on the beautiful lifestyle of Sweden, as well as products spun from their experiences living in Karuizawa. Many people frequent NATUR TERRACE, which has the concept of ``a place where you can find something you've been looking for'' as a regular.

■Karuizawa's welfare x design atelier "konst"
One of Sunaga's projects is "Supporting Art Activities of Creators with Disabilities."konst"there is. Const is a welfare and design atelier based in Karuizawa that creates art workshops that use the strengths of people with disabilities as the source of beauty, and connects the products created through the hands of people with disabilities to society. Various products have been created so far using original drawings drawn by creators. Karuizawa Hospital's ``Okusuri Techo'' is one of the representative examples.

■Do not fix something that will be completed in advance.
Sunaga and Tadashi Watanabe, co-representative of Const, were told the outline of the event, the purpose of the content, and the image they wanted to achieve, and they were asked to think about it starting with a workshop to create an original drawing. As Const's message says, ``Don't fix something that will be created in advance.'' We will limit our orders to abstract things, and we will continue to work with creators with disabilities to create something that Const will weave together. I will leave it to the process.
The workshop was held at the Community Activities Support Center located in the health and welfare complex "Kimoreyo no Sato" in Karuizawa Town.

■Detour along the path of creation with creators
The workshop held with people with disabilities who use the facility proceeded in a very calm atmosphere, as they had already experienced various initiatives with Const.
It is a simple action of placing the "yellow" colored parts prepared by Const into a frame covered with resin, but there are many variations depending on the parts you choose, their number/type, arrangement, etc. . All the creators were enthusiastically working on the parts in front of them. We watch as each individual's individuality and concentration take shape in the hands of creators. At this point, the Const team says they don't have a goal in sight. It seems that he uses a creative approach that involves thinking about what he can do with the finished raw material.

■Yellow gift tag that brings in spring
The original drawing was then transformed into a gift tag with a series of hexagons. A gift tag assembled into a product with care for raw stone-like materials (=original paintings). We have created a wonderful gift tag that values the production process.

As a slight aside, there are many yellow flowers from early spring to early spring because yellow stands out in the mountains and fields, which are still lacking in color, and is said to make them easier to spot for bees, who begin their activities from early spring.

We hope that the yellow gift tags attached to the shopping bags of those who purchased gifts in the Karuizawa Hoshino area will bring in spring.
