Sharing the joy of handicrafts - A scene from the Forest Knit Cafe

Knitted accessories are a necessity in the cold weather of Karuizawa. I'm sure there are many people who enjoy knitting while watching the fire in the wood stove in a warm room. We planned this event so that people could bring their favorite knitting items and chat while working with their hands, which would be a different kind of fun than knitting alone.

In past meetings, people who have relocated to the area, people who have second homes, people who live in multiple locations, their friends, and mother-daughter pairs have participated. They exchange information about wonderful yarns, get help with things they don't understand, and show off their finished works at the next meeting. Each meeting is a rich experience where they share the fun and joy of handicrafts.
Everyone brought what they liked, but most people were knitting scarves and sweaters little by little. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've knitted at home. The cute pig in the photo is an original creation by one of the participants. It's so cute, I'd love to hold a workshop! They were all excited.

The conversation did not end with knitting, but expanded to include the charms of Karuizawa's nature, flora and fauna, education, other hobbies, and more, and the two hours passed in the blink of an eye. For us staff who participated, it was also a valuable opportunity to talk at length with everyone and experience the richness of life in Karuizawa.
The Forest Knit Cafe has been held since November of last year, and the last meeting of this season will be on Saturday, March 11st. We hope that this heartwarming circle of communication will continue to expand little by little.
