At the Sonmin Shokudo, we offer seasonal wild vegetables and wagyu beef dishes that will make you feel the coming of spring, and we look forward to welcoming you. Please enjoy a special moment with the gentle spring breeze of Karuizawa as you feel the season of budding.

Shrimp and wild vegetable tempura 2,400 yen

We use a generous amount of seasonal mountain vegetables such as bamboo shoots and Udo. You can enjoy the flavors of early spring, including fried new onions and rape blossoms, and shrimp.
*The wild vegetables served may change depending on the availability of produce.

Wagyu beef and watercress hotpot with Japanese pepper 4,500 yen

How about a hot pot for one person in the spring season? Wagyu beef is combined with watercress, which has a refreshing spiciness, to create a dish made in the style of "Touji Soba," a local Shinshu dish. The spicy accent of Japanese pepper enhances the flavor. Please "toss" the soba noodles in the small basket into the hot pot and enjoy.

The signature dish of the Village Dining Hall, "Shinshu Colorful Gozen" has been made into a spring version. It is a heartwarming gozen perfect for the cold season, with tempura of wild vegetables such as butterbur shoots and udo buds, and beef stew with plenty of vegetables.

Spring bukkake soba 1,880 yen

A wide variety of wild vegetables are served on top of the soba noodles. They are finished off with a refreshing dipping sauce made with bonito stock. You can enjoy the change in flavor with the rich, special sauce hidden at the bottom of the bowl.

Wagyu beef and wild vegetable broth soba noodles 2,050 yen

The dipping sauce is characterized by its condensed umami flavor of Japanese beef, and also contains wild vegetables that bring out the natural flavor. Enjoy the exquisite harmony of the firm soba noodles mixed with the dipping sauce.
