[Distribution completed] Apple compost “apple soil” has been completed

2024/04/20

“Hoshino Onsen Tombo no Yu” holds an “Apple Hot Spring” every fall. We collected apples floating in the bathtub and made "apple soil" again this year. We will be distributing the completed apple soil to Tombo-no-Yu users starting April 4nd.

How apple soil is made

The apple soil was carefully made by Tombo no Yu staff on the grounds of the Hoshino area. This is my fourth time making apple soil. They cut apples into small pieces, added potting soil, and completed the process over a period of about five months, adding water and aerating regularly.

Free distribution to those using Tombo no Yu

We will give the completed apple soil to those who use Tombo-no-Yu. One bag contains approximately 1g. Please use it for home gardening. Quantities are limited, so it will end as soon as it runs out.

As a sustainable initiative

At Apple Yu, we work with local farmers to use apples of various sizes that are not sold for consumption. Furthermore, we plan to continue this project, believing that converting used apples into something that can be used for home gardening is a form of sustainable consumption and production in the region. We will begin distributing these on Earth Day, April 4nd, with the hope that it will encourage people to think about the environment and take action.
